Tuesday Tunes: A Change is Gonna Come, Sam Cooke 1963

Now THIS is singing! This song brings back so many childhood memories of sitting in my grandmother's kitchen or relaxing with my mom. They both loved the music of the golden years. I call it golden because people actually sang about the meaningful things in life. Enjoy everyone and hope you had a wonderful and safe 4th of July weekend!

Tuesday Tunes: Child of the Library

Are you a child of the library? I was practically raised in the library. It was literally my second home. I was there so much, the head librarian use to let me check in/out books for other patrons. I was officially an unofficial assistant librarian (since I was too young to be one officially :D) Please enjoy this song and the message it gives shares. It certainly brought up some wonderful memories of my own childhood library days!

Tuesday Tunes: What are Words- Chris Medina

As some of you may know, I LOVE Ahmir and the variety of covers they do of different songs. I happened to hear a song they did of Chris Medina's "What are Words." AWESOME! They told a little bit about his story but not much so I googled it. Oh. My. Goodness! What a touching story it was. Chris Medina's fiance was injured in a car accident but he stood by her side and sang this really nice song. I started to post their video but when I found this one of Chris Medina singing it, I teared up. :) I think you all will enjoy it! :)

Tuesday Tunes: I Believe Maher Zain and Irfan Makki

I love Maher Zain!! He came to Seattle and did a little concert for our local mosque. It was really nice. He sang all my favorite songs. While searching for one his newest songs he sang for us that night, I found this one and found another really nice artist, Irfan Makki. This song does have a more religious tone to it but I think the words and theme of the song are very uplifting. :) Should you decide to listen to it, I hope you enjoy it. It's really pretty.

Tuesday Tunes: Live Like You Were Dying

This song really touches my heart because it encourages people to really think about what living life really means. As someone who is religious I believe we are all living on borrowed time and that one day we will all return to our creator. I was raised to live my life in a way that was not just beneficial for me but for others as well. While I may work to pay my bills, enjoy the good things life has to offer but to also share my wealth, knowledge talents and time with others. I think the biggest thing I would do if I had a chance to do it all over again would definitely be to become a better friend, a better sibling, a better teacher and a daughter and a better believer.

Tuesday Tunes: Marry Me

While driving to work today, I got to thinking about one of my characters and the particular situation he has gotten himself into when this song came on the radio. He is in love with another young warrior and wants to marry her but a marriage between them is highly unlikely. Unbeknowst to my character, the young warrior is engaged to marry another man from her world. You see, Naqabashi warriors only marry from their own race. And even more than that, they only marry from the Naqaban warrior clans. I feel bad, because she really does like him and thinks very highly of him, but being proud and bound by honor and duty,she will reject him if he ever gets up the nerve to ask her. And at this point, he is building up that courage.

This month of Ramadan I pray for peace, love, understanding and harmony for all of God's creation. There is just way too much violence and death. Too much hunger, poverty and pain. Mankind is failing his duty and obligation of being God's vicegerent on earth. Tonight, all of mankind are in my thoughts and prayers.

When one person hurts, we should all feel their pain.

Prayers of hope for the despair. Prayers of peace for distressed. Prayers of guidance for the lost. Prayers of love for the forgotten.
