Tuesday Tunes: Child of the Library

Are you a child of the library? I was practically raised in the library. It was literally my second home. I was there so much, the head librarian use to let me check in/out books for other patrons. I was officially an unofficial assistant librarian (since I was too young to be one officially :D) Please enjoy this song and the message it gives shares. It certainly brought up some wonderful memories of my own childhood library days!

Keep libraries open!! Support your local library.

  1. I'm a child of the library!!!! and it is sad that so many are being forced to close thier doors because htere are only so many $$ to go around. I can think of cuts that could be made, but that usually just makes people made. Here in Mecklenburg county the library system is pretty honest about funding and have many many many volunteers to shelve books and lead classes. They also are not too proud to accept donations of books and cash! They have 5k races and bake sales. Hopefully they will weather this financial storm.

I am also old enough to remember when county libraries were started not with $$ but with donations and run by volunteers. It can be done. It's not good for the employees though..... but still better than closing the doors all together. It's up to the community the libraries service.

GOOD POST! It made me think!

  2. I'm glad the song works for you. It rather demanded to be written.

  4. Yes! I loved my local libraries growing up. I did several of their programs, helped organize Read Week events...and, of course, devoured all the books I could on their shelves. :) I still frequent my library just down the street.

  5. I am a child of the library and the bookmoblies that visited in the summer. Reading was such a great way to escape into the lives of others. Nice post.
